Tourist Destination Nainital


Nainital is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kumaon region of the Uttarakhand state. The best time to visit Nainital is summers and the place is almost without tourists in the winters. Nainital is the pride of the Uttarakhand state. Nainital is a peaceful tourist spot and is well known for its amazing beauty. Nainital is located at an altitude of about 1940 meters with an approximate area of 12 square kilometers.

Hanumangarhi
The place is situated at an altitude of 1950 meters and at a diatance of about 4kms from main bus stand of Nainital. The idols of Hanumanji, Lord Rama and Lord Shiva are there. One can board a taxi, a horse or a hand pulled rickshaw to reach there. These temples were built about in 1950s and are taken care by a registered Trust. Ramnavmi, Shivratri and Hunuman jayanti are the main festivals celebrated here.
Lakes
Nainital is filled with many Lakes like Bhimtal, Sattal collection of seven lakes is about a distance of 20kms from Nainital, Khurpatal, Harishtal, Lokhamtal, Naukuchiatal about 4kms from here, Malwatal are the main lakes of the Nainital.
Sepoydhara
Sepoydhara is situated at a high altitude of about 6000 feet. One has to go uphill and come down to reach the place. The place is having a natural spring from which water is coming out through five pipes. Some temples are also there of which 108 Haidakhan Baba's temple is very famous. The place is also having the district Jial of Nainatal whci was known as Tara Lockup in olden days and this jail also housed Pt Moti Lal Naehru before the independence for some time.
Shri Krishnapur
Shri Krishnapur is situated at an elevation about 6000ft. The famous Sanskrit scholar and the Head of the Department of Religious studies of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Advocate late Pt Shri Krishna Joshi's seat is also there. There are more then 150 books and manuscripts written by him on topics like Hindi, English and Snaskrit. Almost all the good books are kept here.

GethiaGethia is place where one can find T B santorium and Ashrams of famous Pilot Baba. The ashrams are popularly known as Akhil Vishwa Shanti Snasthen of Maharishi Kapil Advaita Ashram. People visit this place for peace of mind.

Languages spoken


The common languages spoken in the region are Hindi, English and Gaarhwali.

Clothes


Cottons and light woolens for summers and heavy woolens are recommended for winter season are recommended.

Best time to visit


Nainital can be visited round the year but the best time to visit is summer season. The weather of the place is pleasant during the season.

By Air
The nearest airport is at Pantnagar. One can easily visit Nainital from here.
By Train
The nearest railway station is at Kathgodam which is about 35kms from here.
By Road
Nainital is very well connected to all major cities like Agra which is about 400kms from here, Almora about 64 kms, Dehradun about 380kms, Delhi about 325kms, Haridwar about 300kms and Badrinath which is about 335kms from Nainital.
