Location on Haridwar
Haridwar is situated at an elevation of about 295 meters above the sea level. The area covered by the region is about 12.5 square kilometers. Haridwar is located on the foothills of the Shivalik range.

The other important thing about Haridwar is that Haridwar is the first plain region in Uttarakhand where River Ganga enters leaving the mountains. Places of Attraction in Haridwar
Hari-Ki-Pauri is one of the famous places of Haridwar built by King Vikramaditya in the memory of his brother Bhartrihati. Various religious ceremonies and arties are performed here everyday. Floating Diyas can be seen from here in the water of Ganga.
Chandi Devi Temple
The temple is situated on a famous hill known as Neel Parvat. As per legends Shumbh-Nishumbh were killed by Goddess Chandi here. Chandi Devi temple is accessible through Chandi Devi Udankhatola – a rope way crossing River Ganga starting near Gauri Shankar Temple in Haridwar. As per other legend the statue of the Goddess Chandi was established by Adi Shankracharya in the 8th Century and the temple was built by Suchat Singh the king of Kashmir in 1929 AD.
Mansa Devi Temple
The temple is dedicated to Maa Mansa Devi. Mansa Devi Temple is located at the Bilwa Parvat. One can reach here through the Mansa Devi Udankhatola a famous rope way to the temple. The height of the rope way is about 178 meters and the length of the rope way is about 540 meters. The journey through the rope way is very enjoyable.
Daksha Mahadev Temple
The temple is one of the most famous holy places in Haridwar and is located in Kankhal in Haridwar. As per legends the temple is associated with Mata Sati the wife of Lord Shiva. The temple is worth a visit temple in Haridwar.
Sapta Rishi Ashram
The famous temple is also called Sapta Sarovar because Ganga is flowing in seven streams outside the Ashram. The temple is famous with the Sapta Rishi because as per legends the Sapta Rishi's trapped the Holy River Ganga and after the request from King Badrinath they released the Ganga. The temple is located at a distance of about 5 kms from Har-Ki-Pauri in Haridwar.
