Chandi Devi Temple is a very famous temple and is situated in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand. Here is the story of origin of Chandika Devi temple- Long time ago their were two demon kings Shumbha and Nishumbha who were very powerful and the collected many wishesh and powers from several Indian Gods. They attacked haven (swarg) and captured all the god-kings of heaven. He thrown all of them out of haven and start leaving their as new King of haven. Indra with his other Devtas then go to Goddess Parvati and they ask her for their help. One thing we would like to tell you all that Goddess Parvati is the assumed form of Chandi. After request of Haven Gods, Goddess Parvati makes her miral image as an exceptionally beautiful woman and Shumbha fall in love with her and desired to marry her. But she refused. After this Shumbha sent his two demon chiefs Chanda and Munda to kill miral image of Goddess Parvati. But both of them were killed by goddesss Chamunda. Who was the outcome of Chandika's anger. After this Shumbha and Nishumbha tried very much to kill Chandika but they failed every time. After long time goddess Chandika rested for some time on the top of Neel Parvat and now Chandi Devi temple is situated there. It is interesting to know that two big peaks in the mountain range are known as Shumbha and Nishumbha.
How to reach Chandi Devi Temple Haridwar
Chandi Devi temple is situated in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand and is situated at a distance of 4 kilometres from Har ki Pauri. One have to follow a tough trekking route of 3 km to reach this temple and trekking route starts from Chandighat. But very recently one rope-way or cable car which is locally known as Udankhatola facility is also included to reach Chandi Devi temple very easily. By travelling through rope-way also offers panoramic scenic views to the visitors. While travelling through rope-way one is able to see the panoramic views of the Ganges River.
Timings in Chandi Devi Temple- one Aarti session generoully at 5.00 am is conducted every morning in this temple and temple opens for visitors from 6.00 am. to 8.00 pm.
