Uttarakhand is very hilly state and Uttarakhand Government is trying to utilize natural conditions of Uttarakhand. This time Uttarakhand Government has decided to build one wind farm in Uttarakhand. Tehri district of Uttarakhand is very hilly district and is going to become first Himalayan
site where this wind farm may be settled. In Tehri, Bachhelikhal is the place where this wind farm will be settled.
Notification for wind farm in Uttarakhand
It is said from officials that- a notification regarding wind farm is issued in which it is confirmed that this wind farm is going to produce 2.4 megawatt (Mw) of wind power.
Investment for Wind Farm in Uttarakhand
An investment of Rs 12.5 crore is issued for this wind project. One detailed project report was issued regarding this farm last year and it was prepared by Darashaw which is Mumbai-based consultancy firm.
Survey for Wind Farm in Uttarakhand
One wind farm team from Chennai surveyed Uttarakhand for about 10 years ago. Centre for Wind Energy Technology (CWET) surveyed and found that Bachhelikhal in Tehri district is the appropriate area for positioning of wind farm.
Specifications of wind farm in Uttarakhand
According to officials this wind farm is going to have three wind turbines which will have the capacity of producing 800 Kw-2.4 Mw of wind energy. Now its turn of Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) to take further proceedings and they has sent the DPR to the ministry of new and renewable energy. This will help to get some subsidy for this project. UREDA is also searching for other wind farm projects in Uttarakhand and they have started wind mapping at different places in Uttarakhand. UREDA is currently contacting with CWET which will help UREDA to install wind mapping equipment in Uttarakhand.
