Uttarakhand become the first state to pass Lokpal Bill
It is the biggest and most awaited news in whole India. So here we are with complete information regarding passing of very strict and effective lokpal bill in Uttarakhand. First of all we would like to tell you all the Uttarakhand has become the first state in India which passes the Lokpal Bill under which Chief Minister is also now a part of Lokpal Bill i.e. Uttarakhand brings the chief minister under the ambit of Lokayukta. This bill was successfuly passed on Tuesday 1 Nov 2011. According to Mr. Prakash Pant- state parliamentary minister this step is the biggest milestone for the whole country.

According to new Lokpal bill in Uttarakhand Uttarakhand Chief Minister plus all his predecessors now are under the ambit of Lokayukta. Also entire Uttarakhand bureaucracy is now under the ambit of Lokayukta. It is interesting to know that this great decision just come on the day when social activist Anna Hazare just announced to start one other hunger strike in case this bill was not passed in the winter session of Parliament. Few months ago BC Khanduri was appointed as hon'ble chief minister of state and he is known for his very accurate and direct decisions. He again proved that he is one of the most eligible CM candidate in next assembly elections in Uttarakhand.
Lokayukta body and lokayukta powers in Uttarakhand
Now this is the basic question in everyones mind that what is the structure and powers of Lokayukta in Uttarakhand. So please note that according to informations available upto now the Lokayukta will comprise a chairperson and five members. But if we believe to some sources then number of members may be increased to seven. Under this law lower judiciary of Uttarakhand will come under Lokayukta but it is not applicable for high court judges in state. Minimum punishment for any act of corruption is atleast 6 months of rigorous imprisonment and the maximum is imprisonment of 10 years.
